Punkin

You-the way you would steal pipe cleaners from my craft stash and bring them to me all wet and slobbery to throw so you could fetch them and bring them back.

The way you would meow when anyone would go to the refrigerator until someone would put milk in your bowl.

The way you would try to steal my pillow in the early years, and warm my feet until you couldn't jump on the bed anymore so you settled for sleeping underneath it.

I miss you already. Rest in peace, my friend.

Valentine Album for Grandma

I made this album of Owen's first three months for my mother. If you are interested, you can see the whole album here.

Update: I have fixed the link and the album can now be viewed...sorry!

Pincushion Purse

This is the pincushion I have been meaning to make since I blogged about it two weeks ago. I had to modify the pattern somewhat as the directions were kind of unclear at parts. I have two books and each one lists the directions a little different. I did decrease the pattern by 75% because I wanted the pincushion to be able to fit inside my sewing basket.

I haven't broken in the sewing machine just yet so it is all hand sewn. I am so nervous when it comes to sewing by machine.

Today on the way home I watched as the sugar crystals from my cotton candy shimmered in the sunlight.

I met a very nice mother of 4 boys (extremely close in age) while choosing which cookies to purchase this week. I commented how great it was to see one of her sons crocheting a scarf. With the completed part wrapped around his neck, he sat underneath the buggy crocheting away. The mother shared with me that all of her sons can knit and crochet, imagine that. The boys must have ranged in age from 7-10. I was impressed.

I did win the auction for two Japanese craft books. I think I am paying more for shipping than the books themselves but I'm not complaining. I just can't wait to get my hands on the buggers.

My life is an assortment of incomplete projects.

I spent Saturday night scrapbooking at my house with sister and friend. I have one half of a layout to show for that.

I have been trying to work on my quilt but somehow sleep just seems a little more important these days.

In happier news, Owen turned 3 months old yesterday. Those blue eyes just make my heart melt.

It was a great mail day today. I received my Longaberger sewing basket and a Valentine card from a fantastic artist.

I got a new toy for Valentine's Day. I'm going to be a quilting, embroidering, fool! The place where we purchased the machine also gives free lessons for life. I'm really going to need all the help I can get.

I've been working on Owen's quilt which I am quilting by hand. I forgot how sore my fingers used to get. Especially the finger held underneath the quilt which inevitably gets poked nine times out of ten.

It's my mother's birthday today. Happy Birthday, Mom!

Picked up five yards of Lil' Cowpoke fabric by Michael Miller. see below

Purchased yardage of coordinating fabrics for quilt to be made. It's been years since I have quilted anything so I'm a little rusty but look forward to the challenge.

Why oh why can't I read Japanese? Better yet, why do their crafty books have to be so much better than the ones offered in the U.S.? I can't see plopping down $26 for each book on that auction site (but I will if I have to). Is there anyone out there who has seen these books in person? I am mainly looking for this one and anything having to do with felt animals, etc.

When Owen gets a little older, I want to make his bedding out of this fabric. I should have picked it up yesterday when I saw it. I'm having non-buyers remorse. After searching around on the net, I've decided that I would be getting a bargain at the store where I found it yesterday. On Evilbay a yard went for thirteen dollars...craziness.

I'm on a sewing kick here lately. I went searching for a sewing basket yesterday at Micha*l's but didn't find anything inspiring. After searching on E*bay I picked up a Longaberger sewing basket. I can't wait until it gets here.

Now my plans are to make a pincushion. Funny thing is when husband and I went to B&N yesterday, I bought this book and wanted to buy this one but only for the pincushion pattern. So when I got home, I purchased it off Amaz*n. Well, after thoroughly perusing the book I actually did purchase, the pincushion pattern is included in it, as well. Now what are the chances?

Clarence the Cat

This is my contribution to the January Month of Softies. His name is Clarence (he told me). He is hand sewn since I sew faster by hand than by machine, anyway. His nose is made from one of my old pink t-shirts since I forgot to pick up some fabric for his sniffer.

I barely made the deadline but it was great fun. I need to get started a little earlier next month!
